The William Jefferson Jackson Scholarship


Mission Statement:

The William Jefferson Jackson Scholarship is a memorial scholarship to honor William who graduated from Saint Augustine’s College in 1949. William believed that post-secondary education was the key to success and that anyone who obtains a college education is obligated to give back to their alma mater in the form of money and/or time. William was committed to Saint Augustine’s College and to honor his legacy, his family with the assistance of the Washington, DC Metro Alumni chapter distributes an annual scholarship of $2000.

Scholarship Eligibility Information:
Full-time students, actively pursing undergraduate studies at Saint Augustine's, classified as first-year seniors are eligible to apply. A minimum grade point average of 2.75 is required to apply. The scholarship is open to students regardless of their field of study.

Application Deadline and Process:
Scholarship applications and all supporting documents must be received by April 30, of each year. The Washington DC Metropolitan Alumni Chapter Saint Augustine’s University(WDC-MAC-SAU) will review the applications and the applicant will be notified by May 31st of the same year. The scholarship application may be completed online below and supporting documents can be either emailed or mailed. 

You may also download a copy of the application and mail completed application and supporting documents to the address provided below.  Scholarship recipients will be announced at graduation.

  • Completed Scholarship Application
  • Completed responses to all questions and statements
  • Completed 300 - 400 word essay describing your commitment to Saint Augustine's University upon graduation.
  • Two (2) letters of recommendation from instructions, employers or staff at Saint Augustine's (these letters must be included in packet. Or, if the application was completed on line, the letters can be emailed, or mailed, but must be received before the deadline date.
  • Copy of most recent official college transcript.

APPLICATIONS THAT ARE INCOMPLETE, OR
 EMAIL DATE STAMPED AFTER THE DUE DATE (April 30th)
WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS.
